As you may know I have just finished up a 4 song EP called “Unfailing Love.” It is currently being duplicated and will be available in June to be purchased. Kerri Crocker

Over the past several months I have been blessed to be able to work with my new friend Kerri Crocker. Kerri came on this year as a worship leader for our contemporary worship service at Williams. She lives with her husband and family in East Texas but she leads worship and shares her music all over. She has just released her second CD entitled “Reason to Be” which was produced by Kyle Lee and recorded at Clean Productions. Kerri is passionate about a new foundation she has started called pray for a cure for cancer.

Kerri is joining me at Fork In the Road Music and will be writing some devotionals and some thoughts on leading worship, leading worship without a band and more on her efforts with Prayforacureforcancer.

A new way of looking at things

I have decided to step out on faith and put together a CD of some new songs. In the past I have taken whatever opportunity I had to get a recording together, usually just my voice and a guitar or something simple like that, but this is going to be different and stretching and difficult and scary at the same time. I met with the guy who is producing for a writing session. I showed him several lyrics that I had and then he sat down and began pounding out some melodies and chords. Now these weren’t the melodies I had in my head, or had used before, but I said in the beginning I was open to co-writing and I can say I am glad I took this path.

I am glad because he had a different way of looking at things. When I saw those lyrics the same boring melody kept popping in my head, but he looked at it from a completely fresh perspective, and some of the songs that I thought had no hope.. got a new life, and a new sound, and are much better than before.

It makes me wonder if there are other areas of my life where I only see one way. How in my ministry at church, the meetings, the areas I am involved in, do I see the same way of doing things that I always have? What would happen if I was open to a fresh perspective, a reinventing? What if I asked someone else to co-write? What if that someone else was… God?
